First serialized in Square Enix’s Monthly G Fantasy magazine in November 2014, A Terrified Teacher at Ghoul School! is a comedic fantasy manga created and illustrated by Mai Tanaka. As of December 2023, the series has amassed a dedicated following and continues publication with sixteen compiled volumes (tankōbon). Furthermore, an anime adaptation was announced in December 2023, slated for release in 2024.

The story centers around Haruaki Abe, a timid teacher ill-equipped to handle even regular students. However, fate throws him a curveball when he becomes employed at a most unusual institution – a school specifically for ghouls and monsters! The story follows Haruaki’sHilarious and harrowing ordeals as he attempts to maintain order amongst his mischievous and otherworldly pupils.

These students are far from ordinary, boasting a diverse range of supernatural abilities and personalities. From the serious and stoic Mikoto to the playful ghost girl Beniko, each student presents a unique challenge for the beleaguered Haruaki. Adding to the comedic chaos is Mamekichi Maizuka, a mischievous tanuki shapeshifter who undoubtedly contributes to the classroom’s lively (and potentially destructive) atmosphere.
